The trip went well. We left about 4:30 am saturday morning. I wanted to get going earlier but R had to take a bath and change clothes and such. Then we had to stop and check the air in the tires. We did get through Memphis before the traffic got bad though. We went through Columbus Mississippi while they were having some sort of festival. We got lost. They had detours around the downtown area. We had to ask a cop how to get to the highway we wanted. He was real nice and gave simple directions and we got going again.
We had a flat in Demopolis. R changed the tire pretty fast. The car has one of those little bitty emergency tires on it. I was sort of scared it wouldn't make it teh rest of the way but it did. It was only another 35 miles or so..I think. I am not entirely sure. It might be farther than that.
All my great aunts were there and many of my moms cousins. One was BBQing. Several others cooked stuff to bring for dinner. It was really good. One of them made a strawberry banana pudding...it was really good..made like plain banana pudding but with strawberries. One of moms cousins made macaroni and cheese...the REAL stuff. I haven't had that in years. It was good.
I also got to see the new house of one of my great aunts that moms cousin built. He built all the cabinets and the bar in there too. That place is truly beautiful. I want a kitchen like that if I ever build a house. And the house he built for himself is gorgeous too. And he made the table. It's sort of stipes of wood in a diamond design. Its beautiful. I want one of those too
I also want that decorative shelf my cousin is building..I told him he had to make me one...dunno if I scared him bad enough though LOL.
We stayed till about 7:30 then started the drive home. NO sleep
R wanted to have some time at home before he had to go back to work. So we drove most of the night. It was fun. We followed my mom and made a few pit stops. It's a lot more fun to travel with others like that...to stop and visit with em on the way. It rained most of the way though. They still had that detour in Columbus and mom got lost too. We made it home about 5:30 am I think. Went right to sleep and slept most of the day.
I saw some flowers on the way that I really like. Lots of them were growing in the medians of the highway. And many on the sides of the road. Mom thinks they are buttercups. I want to get some of those to put in my yard when we move. They are lovely growing in those bunches.
I guess thats all on that subject. I have to get the food out of the oven and make some tea. Might post again later. Hope you are all doing well
