Read in a book yesterday a statement that maybe really loving someone means not protecting them. In some cases you have to..like very young childen. But older folks..maybe thats right. Let them make thier own choices and mistakes. Learn and grow. In some cases such as alcoholics..that seems to be the only thing you can do that has much chance of helping them. It seems that as long as someone is around cleaning up after them and putting them in bed instead of letting them lie in the ditch..they never realise or admit there is a problem. So maybe really loving is just letting them be. I think that is probably one of the hardest things anyone can do though. Especially if it is their kids. Any thoughts?
