Bags of fertilizer that have sat in the store for a while are really icky to pick up. Heavy too. We got 4 for my dad. Red crape myrtle is beautiful. Mom got two more of them when were at the store getting the fertilizer. The lady from the Animal Farm shelter here emailed me back. She says they do need volunteers. At the shelter is mostly labor..cleaning up after the animals and feeding and watering them. They need paperwork and fundraising done too. I can handle some labor and I can handle paperwork as well as anyone...never done any fundraising though. They are having an animal adoption day this sat. I will go if I can. If not she says she will meet with me and we will see. So I will have something to do thats worth doing soon I hope. This is one of those places where they do not kill the animals I think. I checked out several others. One in West Memphis has posted that they are pretty much at capacity now and will have to kill some of the animals soon if they are not adopted There is also a yahoo animal rescue group. They are needing people to help transport animals to their permanant homes. They have one dog now that needs transport. They are asking volunteers to each take a 60 or so mile leg of the journey from Texas to Boston. They currently still need one leg filled in arkansas..a few in Tennessee and several others farther north. The group name is Animal_rescue at yahoo groups if any of you are interested. It is too far away for me right now.
