Hodgson Burnett wrote some great ones. This collection In the Closed Room; Racketty-Packetty House; The Land of the Blue Flower; The Little Hunchback Zia; My Robin , The Secret Garden and my all time favorite A Little Princess (Penguin Classics) . I read about Sara over and over for years. I think every little girl should read that one. And the secret garden is good too. And there are several more. They are old yes..but that doesn't mean they are not still good. Some old things are better then young things..me for instance
